Access via Secure Shell (SSH) 

From the UNIX command line on the own workstation the login to a CINECA username xxyyzzkk is performed via one of the commands given in the following table:

For WINDOWS, it is needed to download and install a specific SSH client, i.e. Putty or Tectia.

Access via Desktop Based Tool

It is possible access in a "desktop" based way (particularly useful if you are using visualization tools) by using one of two available applications:

• EnginFrame_OLD: this is a web application (webcompute.cineca.it)
• RCM: you need to download and install a client

Username and password have to be provided to access.

Access via Grid Services using GSI-SSH

An alternative way of accessing the cluster is to use GSI-SSH, a client-server application for accessing the Grid created by the UK’s NGS that provides 

• terminal access to your account
• a single sign-on environment (no password required to access other machines)
• easy access to a number of additional functionalities, including secure and parallel file transfer

For using it the prerequisites are:

• a x509 certificate installed on your machine and acknowledged by CINECA, please refer to Copy of -X.509 certificate.
• an installation of a GSI-SSH client on your own workstation. You can install the client  from binary on your local machine (instruction available at http://toolkit.globus.org/toolkit/docs/6.0/admin/install/#install-bininst) or you can install the multi platform Java tool Gsissh-Term (instruction available at http://www.lrz.de/services/compute/grid_en/software_en/gsisshterm_en/ )

All CINECA machines host a GSISSH server and can be reached via gsissh:

user$ gsissh <hostname> -p <port>
